Set the timer if necessary

Shorter tasks – should be completed quickly. Turn on the timer.

Longer tasks – a timer is unreasonable. Turn off the timer.

Why is a ROUTINE important?

A routine is a set of sequenced actions that are followed regularly. Routines:

Give us structure to get jobs done.

Make us organised.

Reduce stress

Remind us there are breaks in the day; particularly important for people who thinks ‘this’ will never end.

Teach us about sequencing, prioritising and duration.

Develop good habits so we can be forward moving and create momentum to achieve goals.

Routines can be established Monday – Sunday for

• Morning

• Afternoon

• Evening

The Account Holder sets tasks to be included in the routine and the amount of time for each task. Task completion can be monitored by the Account Holder

acc-users-dashboard

A small image can be added to each task. The image is customised by the Account Holder. It is recommended the image include the Account User and/or tools involved eg. “Make your bed” – take a photo of the Account User making his/her bed and use the image for this task.

• Each task can be edited:

Routine (morning, afternoon, evening)

• Task

• Frequency (weekly, specific days of week or a one-off, specific day/date)

• Duration – what is the approximate time the Account User has or needs to do this task. Carefully consider how long it realistically takes the Account User. Reducing the duration to complete a task may be a long-term goal.

The timer can be turned off if the task is not at home eg. soccer practice. A timer is not necessary because the Account User’s presence at soccer practice is not within the Account User’s control. But it is necessary for the Account User to know that soccer practice is taking place on any given afternoon.
